Lane Hickenbottom

Independent/Lane Hickenbottom Alma Rawlings (left) talks to an unidentified Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent about the location of the detained mother of young girls Rawlings was helping Wednesday. Rawlings, who owns Latino Check Cashing on 404 W. 4th St., said parents deported back to countries such as Guatemala with children born in the United States have an special challenge. The parents are not allowed into back into the United States and their children, who are U.S. citizens, cannot go to Guatemala without a passport, which is difficult to obtain without the parents.
