Lane Hickenbottom

Independent/Lane Hickenbottom Grand Island firefighter Dick Peterson clears glass from the area around where an 80-year-old woman drove her Buick into the front of the Dollar General store on North Broadwell Street Monday. Dollar General employee Kandi Smith said she was working at the cash register when the automobile smashed into the building. ÒIt scared me,Ó she said, ÒI was hoping there was nobody in the area. Smith said she checked on the driver who was shaken but not injured. She said she was trying to park her vehicle. Nobody in the store was injured in the accident.
