Independent/Lane Hickenbottom Gates Elementary School fifth-grader McKenzie Fyfe uses the cross-walk to cross Ingalls Street on her way home from school Friday. Even though Fyfe lives just across the street from school, she said she encounters close calls with vehicles all the time. ÒI almost got ran over last night,Ó she said. ÒA lot of people park on the crosswalk. If thereÕs people in the car, you donÕt know if they are going to go, backup or go forward.Ó
