To help celebrate Flag Day, the old flag at Bickford Cottage is retired by United Veterans Color Guard members (from left) Kenny Brandt, Larry McAhren and Richard Simpson, who is holding the new flag to be dedicated during the ceremony. The old flag was dedicated in honor of fallen Nebraska soldiers during the Iraq war, and in special memory of Lance Cpl. Kyle Codner who was killed in 2004. The new flag was provide by KyleÕs grandparents, Del and Doris Shupe of Grand Island, and Dixie Codner, who is a Bickford Cottage resident.
