Independent/Barrett Stinson

ÒThese get pretty heavy when theyÕre wet,Ó said Randy Mason as he lifted pieces of carpet padding from the back of a pickup Tuesday afternoon at the Grand Island Transfer Station. Mason, who lives on Hanover Lane near Stolley Park Road and Blaine Street in Grand Island, said that many of his neighbors had basement flooding from last weekÕs storm. The transfer station is continuing to offer free dumping of debris accumulated from storm-damaged homes.
