Independent/Barrett Stinson

A temporary traffic signal was activated Monday at the intersections of Capital and Diers avenues. The light, installed to help alleviate traffic bottlenecks, will flash red through Wednesday as motorists grow accustomed to its location. Beginning Thursday morning, the light will be activated to operate on a normal red, yellow, green schedule. A permanent traffic signal will be installed as part of a federal aid project to widen Capital Avenue from Webb Road to Carleton Avenue. Widening work will begin this year and should be completed in 2007.
