Grand Island Fire Prevention Division Chief Fred Hotz holds a mass of keys to area businesses in the foyer of Grand Island City Hall. The Grand Island Fire Department is in the process of returning the keys, many of which are out of date, in favor of using the Knox Box system. The box is mounted to a business and holds a key so the fire department can get into the building during an alarm or fire. Each truck then only has to carry one key to access any Knox Box in the area.
