Independent/Lane Hickenbottom

Independent/Lane Hickenbottom main Grand Island Public Works Director Steve Riehle and composting project manager Roger Scott look at a guage Monday that reads the amount of airflow being pulled through a straw-topped compost pile of processed wastewater treatment plant product. The odorous air pulled into a mechanical unit (behind them) where wood chips scrub out odors. The air from the mechanical unit is then released through a separate pile of wood chips to further reduce odors.
