At the end of her senior year of high school, Irene Mendez (left) knew she wanted to go to college, but she wasnÕt sure what she wanted to do. With the help of her high school counselor, Mendez decided on the education major that eventually led her back to Grand Island as a English Language Learner teacher at Wasmer Elementary.
