Independent/Gerik Parmele

Wherever disaster strikes, members of the American Red Cross are usually on hand to help out, as they were during the flooding in Grand Island last May. Here they work together with Grand Island volunteers to dig into a pile of sand as they fill sandbags at the Berean Bible Church on West Capital Avenue. According to members of the Red Cross local first responders and emergency management, if another disaster were to strike, they are ready.
