Islanders advance to state

Grand Island's baseball team scored two runs in the top of the seventh and held on to beat Millard North 4-3 in the Class A, District 5 championship game Monday at Ryder Park in Grand Island.

The Islanders will take a 16-13 record into the first round of state tournament play Saturday at Sherman Field in Lincoln.

Eric Schwieger pitched six innings to get the win for over Millard North (22-5). Kash Kalkowski pitched a 1-2-3 sixth to get a save.
